GE Club Warriors!
On Saturday, 26 July 2014, 9 of the Sapref GE Club members took part in the annual Jeep Warrior Race which was held in Ballito. The Club took a total time of 02:05:33 to complete the 5km Rookie Race that consisted of 15 obstacles. The obstacles ranged from muddy barbed wire crawls, jumping from elevated towers, trudging through mud pits, climbing over walls and high nets. "Great fun was had by all and it was good to see the GEs helping each other with some of the tougher obstacles," commented Uphendulwe Sisilana who was one of the GE Club team race participants.

Purpose of the Sapref GE Club
The Sapref Graduate Engineer Club began in 2011 as the brainchild of one of Sapref's then graduate engineers, and now ex-employees. The vision was carried forward by the remaining graduates in 2012 who developed the club constitution, obtained the required support from the organisation's leadership and established a committed membership base. The club seeks to execute three main objectives which may be defined as:-
- to act as medium for driving opportunities for personal and professional growth
- to increase the sense of community and camaraderie among the graduate engineers thereby aligning the club with SAPREF’s "one team one purpose" ideal
- to provide a platform for giving back to the surrounding community and promoting careers in engineering
Today the GE club has 22 members, which includes 3 executive members namely, the chairman, secretary and treasurer. All members are encouraged to participate in club activities by contributing to any one of the three subcommittees; career development, team building and social responsibility, which were formed to drive the club's main objectives.
